Alright, this thread did well long ago, let's try it again!

This time, there is no theme you must use, you have a choice.

Instead, take a common theme, such as unrequited love, loss of home and family, loyalty to the kingdom, etc. Put a unique, new twist on it. It can be fantasy, realism, whatever, just make it something that hasn't been seen before.

Ok, I'll reply to myself until someone comes to keep me company!

The prince is in love with a common girl. He offers her everything, but she refuses it, on the basis that he does not know the meaning of hard work and deprivation. Desperate to prove to her that he can meet her standards, he sets off on a wild adventure across the world, abandoning his crown without warning, and without leaving an heir.

Nothing goes his way, he simply cannot find a challenge that he believes suitable to win her love. Returning, he finds one sitting on his throne, in the form of his next door neighbor, who took the chaos as a chance to step in and add a little real estate. The prince must fight for his throne, finally finding a challenge worth everything he has. Finally being captured by the new king, he is thrown into the dungeon, where his lady-love visits him. She tells him she is happily married, with three small children, and reminds him that one cannot buy love.

The prince finally accepts the offer to regain his freedom, so long as he is never seen in the kingdom again. He accepts, and becomes a monk, far away from his home.

Er..I actually meant to post this one a long time ago. >.> It kind of just..well never got up. Sorry^^;

An angel (A tetramorph, more specifically) is in love with a mortal girl. The only problem is that he can never seem to get things right with her. And so she breaks up with him. He won't give her up, though, and so when they break up, he shifts appearances so that he looks like someone totally different, and then goes and sets out to win her heart all over again.

Unfortunately for him, someone up above has found out about his little deception, and they're not happy about it. Another angel is sent to stop him. Eventually the second angel succeeds and forces the tetromorph to spill the beans, so to speak. So, what happens when he is forced to tell her the truth about him and them as a couple? Well, unfortunately I haven't figured that out yet^^;

A scholar who has studied the depths of mythology has spent his life observing, first hand, the fantastical creatures of the land and comparing what he sees to how the old myths portray them. The parallels are usually dead-on, or he can at least come up with cultural reasons why a creature or race would be misrepresented in history.

That was until he went out in search of the Elves. History and myth suggested that such a race should be benevolent, educated and caring. It turns out they are anything but.

He soon finds himself in dire trouble when, not only does he find the Elves, but he discovers that the old tales are COMPLETELY wrong. They are a foul race of pitiful spite and hatred. They kill on sight, abduct human children for use as slaves, and are plotting to subjugate the entire human race.

They ride on unicorns. Dingy-gray beasts with matted hair, and a foul smell. the beast's bloodshot eyes are said to be able to read a man's soul. They are drawn toward purity (such as a virgin) just as the old myths say... but only so they can befoul that purity... they despise innocence!!

Moral: Don't believe everything you read. Especially ancient stories born of romanticized notions.

You and your unicorns! Confused Rolling Eyes Laughing

A little boy sees "fairies". They talk to him, promise him all the toys and candy he could want if he will come play with them. They eventually convince him to sacrifice a small animal, and then take him into their realm. There, they sell him as a slave to a powerful being. He makes friends with the things that he used to see in nightmares, and learns that sometimes, evil isn't always ugly. He eventually escapes and goes back to the mortal realm, to find that the fairies have made themselves visible to people again, and have a huge cult following them. He tries to warn people that the fairies are dangerous, and that his nightmarish friends are good, but he fails, and ends up being murdered by a fairy-cult member.
