Alrighty. That was one badass post. Now, as y'all can see, we're passing by Concepcion now. I'm figuring this is a good point to decide who does what in case of a firefight onboard the boat. There's an M2HB, 12,7 mm (very) heavy machine-gun in the tail of the boat, mounted, loaded and ready. "Ginger", Joe Bloody Fingers, is eager to claim it as her own. So, let's talk. What will the rest of y'all do in a firefight? Let's get it somewhat organized.
Oh, and Cole is the type that'd say "Make love, not war", so he'll be doing the whole "diplomacy" thingie. All the time when there's a firefight, Barnes will be running the boat, to make sure Cole also can participate in the glorious fun that might ensue.
Well, that's all. Now, discuss. That's an order!
Oh, and Feth, I hope you're not letting our early complaints about your post hinder your roleplaying. You're doing good now. Feel free to socialize with Cole, Barney, Dunkirk (though he won't do much but grunt in response), and any of the others if you feel like it, though maybe not now when we're sneaking past Concepcion. The best thing for conversations is to do it via Instant Messenger programs (MSN, Yahoo, etc.), at least if you want a longer conversation with them. (Like mine and Morni-Ch@n's latest). _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

ok, thanks for the info and the positive thoughts Lox.
In a firefight, my character would probably jump into the river and climb onto other boat when everyone else is distracted, or when Cole is going all hippie on the police. It would take some serious posting magic to work but I think I could do it.
With some help of course _________________

Adrian would probably wait for them to get close, then go nuts with his shotgun. Either that or just straight out 'nade the other boat, depending on how big it is. _________________ "There are those to whom knowledge is a shield, and those to whom it is a weapon. Yah, for my character it would definitely matter how big the boat is, facing something like a PT boat that tactic would work well on a small two person boat it wouldn't work so well. A wet man in a guillie suit flop onto a small boat with 2 people _________________

Should have been more around, but life is kinda busy at them moment.
Anyway, Cain is the kind who'll stay back a bit, as he is lacking in pure firepower. He'll look for openings and when one comes around he'll use explosives if he can, his revolver if he can't. No ones sure why he has an SMG, not even himself. _________________ The Knights of the Pink Slippers are now recruiting!

And of course Joe is currently wrapped solidly around that lovely mounted gun, so stay away!
Shall we get this going then? It sounds like we've got a pretty good idea of where we're going. _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Sounds good to me too. I'll try and get it done tonight when I get home from that accursed ceremony. Or if I'm completely drained by Church, in which, if I haven't mentioned it before, everything takes foreeeeeeeeeever.... Then I'll do it tomorrow. Just keep your guns ready, folks.
Edit: Okay, I was too exhausted to do the post yesterday. I'll get to it this afternoon when school is over. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

I'm gonna finish the gunfight tomorrow, so if anyone feels like killing any more cops before we make a major high-tail out of there, now is the time. For any reference, the grenade blew away most of the cops from deck, and took away part of the housing of the motorboat. The boat's engine is kind'a effed up after the explosion, and the boat sure as H wont be going anywhere.
Also, the line is cut, so in the morning, I'll have Barnes do the full throttle thingie out of there. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese

Things are a bit of a stalemate. I guess there hasn't been much adventuring to do so far, either. I'm going to work out a new post some time next week when I have time and energy, and I'll try to make it so that there's more chances for character interaction.
Any tips and ideas are welcome, of course, considering this is the first RP I'm "leading", and I need opinions to make it fun for all participants. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Hmm, nothing here. I'm gonna try to be as active as possible on RP part of forum. (I'm also trying to participate in other parts of the forum, but the RP is my favorite part.)
So in short, Ill start thinking of ideas _________________

Thanks, Feth, please do that. It's more fun if more people participate with ideas in an RP also.
I'm stalling right now with the latest post, 'cause I have to figure out some things about what's going to happen next. Also, and now I want your opinions - I'm thinking about letting them leave the PT boat and do the jungle hiking thing instead in a not too distant future, to make it easier for some character interaction and such stuff. So, what do you all think about that? _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Hmm, I think that we should maybe get off the boat soon. but sort of not tell us (in a sense.) Just mention the boat slowing down, and let Cole announce that they are looking for a place to land, and let it run from there. we'd probably be surprised what sites we find. _________________

If we get off the boat now, can we find/steal some vehicles? Or would the jungle be too thick for that?
Because if it is then I want that crazy buzz-sawmobile from IJ4. _________________ "There are those to whom knowledge is a shield, and those to whom it is a weapon. Neither view is balanced, but one is less unwise."-Keepers' Annals. |

My idea is we'd have to "Indiana Jones" this jungle. with a local or someone who knows the area. (Cole)
It just doesn't seem like the place for any horsepower be that organic or mechanical. _________________

It's a good idea, and I think we'll play with that. I do have a way to get them off the boat that won't be too perfect, and will cause some interesting plot ideas, hopefully. So I'll work with that and come up with a post in the morning or something.
Also, about moving through the Pantanal - me and Mornara came up with a plan for that way back. We decided it should be made by horses - horses are really one of the best transports there. It's really hard to get by by foot. So we'll seek to acquire some horses, but until we have, we'll do the whole foot thingie. Cole can to the guiding thing, but they're all ex-military so they know their way around a jungle. All Cole can bring to the stew is to get them over the border into Brazil since he knows the way.
And I still haven't seen Indy 4 yet. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Sorry I haven't posted yet, folks. I've been lazy, and come up with some logic. Since we've already been in a battle, I'm going to make the next post span over about a day of time or so, and in the end of the post we will be forced to get off the boat. Without giving away too much, I suggest you all be prepared. I'll make the post some time on sunday, I don't have time until then. So, if y'all want to loot the boat, talk to eachothers, or do something more before we dump it, now is the time.
After we've left the boat, I'm going to strive to make it a little more open so that y'all will have more chances to work your characters. Also, again, tips, participation in planning, all of it welcome. This is, after all, my first leading an RP. Let's hope it won't be as controlled by me (oops) in the future, and if I end up doing that, just give me a digital slap in the face. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. The entire forum is slow right now, so hopefully we'll be able to figure out how to get things moving again.
Lox, you know how to get us to the right rancheria, where we can pick up some horses? I like the idea of moving us ahead a day or so and onto foot. You going to leave Barnett with the boat? _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Yeah, I'll have Barnes stay by the boat. His purpose was to drive the boat after all, allowing Cole to stay around and pick up chicks.
I haven't really planned how to get to the ranchera yet, though. But I know how to get the boat, uh, unsuitable for further transport upriver, and I have some ideas that'll take some time for us, hopefully. From there, we'll then try and make our way to the ranchera and get some horses. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Sorry, y'all, for the hugely frickin' long post. I felt it was necessary to give background to why they had to abandon the boat. And yup, you guessed it, Dunkirk was one of my people inserted solely for the purpose of causing havoc (No pun intended, Havoc), and betraying us.
Anyway, from now on, I'm going to strive to shorten down my posts. This time, however, I think it was necessary to make it so long. Anyways, now y'all can feel free to play your characters from the point where you were warned to gear up, (if you want to take a pit stop into the armory, but please don't find the bomb ) and onwards to get ashore, where, as said, there are soldiers waiting for us.
French soldiers, to be specific. Mercenaries. You'll get to know them better later. For now, they're just french mercs. With FAMAS. And a whole slew of other high-tech weapons. Let's face it, y'all, the beach is a small battlefield, right now, and it's all thanks to Dunkirk's betrayal that we'll have to make our way out of it. For now, we don't know it's he that betrayed us so don't go shoot him in the back just yet.
And the Goose? Well, she's out of commission big time.
Now, what was it Caesar said? Oh, yeah...

Wow, I'll write Joe's post tomorrow, that's gonna be incredibly fun! Talk about it being a small world...
You actually going to have their leader there, or just the boys? I kinda need to know who she sees. And remember, she's a liability right now, and a distraction. They want her alive. _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Alrighty, folks... This will be a lot to read, and it's not really all-that-essential info, so I'll put it in a quote box for you. First, some info. This is about the enemy y'all will be fighting as soon as you hit the beach. They are called Chiens de Guerre - French for "Dogs of War" according to Babel Fish. As I said, it's one helluva badass unit. Just how badass? Read on, and you'll know.
Now, because they are so badass, I feel obliged to defend myself from criticism due to their oversized badassedness. I was inspired by Executive Outcomes, the South-African PMC - one of the first, if not THE first in the modern PMC game. I'm suspecting that Chiens de Guerre isn't even HALF as powerful as Executive Outcomes was. Just something to think about before you complain about how strong they are.
| Quote: |
Chiens de Guerre - Dogs of War
A French mercenary army, made up of the creamof the crop of French ex-military personnel. All it's members are either of French descent, or former members of the French Foreign Legion. They are well-versed in combat, highly trained and highly motivated. Since the language spoken in Chiens de Guerre is French, everyone in the unit speaks at least two languages fluently, English and French, as well as a variety of other languages. The members of the unit are recognized on the black tattoo on their right forearms, depicting Cerberus, the Hound who guards the Gates of Hell. Most are Europeans, but they come with all colors of skin, as they are mostly former Foreign Legionnaires, recruited by the Legion from all over the world.
Chiens de Guerre has access to, due to near limitless funds, everything from their own brigade of top-modern Eurofighter Tiger gunships, to C17 Globemaster 3 transport airplanes, mobile radar vehicles, tanks and Armored Personnel Carriers, civilian-camouflaged, heavily armed coastal corvettes, and even cruise missiles that can be fired from the corvettes. Their funds, due to their skills, motivation, reputation and willingness to take any job on the market, as long as it pays well, are near limitless, and this also allows them great power in most third world countries, where while a small bribe can buy a chief of police, Chiens de Guerre can buy the president. Rumor has it also that this allows them to often buy the loyalty - and services - of local military forces, with whom they often fight side by side.
The single mercenary in Chiens de Guerre is equipped with the latest in soldier systems technology. They are armed with the French FAMAS rifle in various incarnations, but also often carry protection vests, nightvision goggles, and also an array of specialized weapons for the task, such as for example MP5A4 silenced submachine-guns, M4A1 Close-Quarter assault rifles, M249 Para light machineguns, MSG90 sniper rifles and Accuracy International AS50 12,7 mm anti-material rifles. They also have access to heavier weapons, such as grenade machineguns, rocket launchers and Man-Portable Surface-to-Air missiles.
Due to their size and economic independence, Chiens de Guerre has a near limitless access to the latest in weapons technology, and have contacts among several international arms dealers, legal and otherwise. The army has more successfully than any other similar unit in the world privatized military experience. They are not, however, a legally accepted Private Military Company, though most countries have not even tried to dissolve the unit, and they even have the silent approval of the French Secret Service, for whom they have done more than one military clandestine operation in the past.
Chiens de Guerre works in most 3rd World countries where there is a profit to be made, be it for a dictator or a liberation movement, they don't care. Among their latest areas of operation are Angola, Congo, Liberia, Cameroon, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, and in Latin America Nicaragua, Colombia (where they play a major role in the drug war), El Salvador, Haiti, Bahamas, as well as Paraguay. The unit came into the lights of media attention in the West not that long ago when it leaked out that they had been fighting in Chechnya on mission for the Russian Army, for a huge paycheck.
Chiens de Guerre is a tightly bonded unit, where each of the unknown number of soldiers and other members is considered, and considers his fellow soldiers, family. Each member would gladly give up his life for the others, and all of them would gladly die for their leader, the legendary soldier who put together the unit in the first place. It is the legendary 45 year old French mercenary Yves Sevoy, who's latest media appearance was in january 2006, when he openly threatened Robert Mugabe, dictator of Zimbabwe, with an invasion, lest Mugabe paid an overdue fee for a contract for which he hired the Chiens de Guerre. Mugabe paid the overdue fee, rather than risk the wrath of Chiens de Guerre. |
So... That's what y'all will be fighting. Don't start praying, grunt - pick up that gun and get back to shooting! Seriously, though - there's not that many of them on the beach right now, maybe fifty or so. We can take 'em.... I think. Also, because I feel so generous towards y'all right now, I'm going to show you who it is that Joe "Bloody Fingers" Russel have angered with her kinky love life. (Don't hit me, Morni-Ch@n, I was just kidding!!)
| Quote: |
Captain Yves Sevoy
Yves Sevoy, the son of a French general, is a former member of the French Army's Paratroopers. He joined the GIGN in his early twenties as one of the youngest ever to have joined the CT unit. A skilled leader and fighter, he quickly gained the trust of his fellow soldiers due to his ability to always maintain a cool head, even in the most dire of situations. With time, thanks to this trait, he made it captain of the Foreign Legion's 2nd Airborne Regiment, one of the fiercest fighting units in the world, heading up his own Special Ops team for the French military intelligence service.
After an assassination of an Algerian politician for the French Secret Service, which was exposed by French journalists, Sevoy was discharged from the Legion as a coverup. His commanders claimed he had acted of his own volition. Angered, Sevoy took with him all his men, and created his own mercenary band, Chiens de Guerre. Now, they're infamous as one of the best mercenary units in the world, doing dirty jobs in Third World countries in Africa and South America, and working for the highest bidder. They're an army without a country, and feared among friends as well enemies in the mercenary community. Every mercenary in the world has heard of them and their exploits. And few would cross their path voluntarily.
Yves Sevoy himself, forty-five years of age, is an impressive man, ruthless when he has to, but respectful of his enemies, especially when they put up a good fight. He also despises cowards, even though he might lower himself to work for them if they can pay. Furthermore, his men love him and would follow him to the death. |
Well, that's Cole's mentor, Yves Sevoy. He's kind of badass too. And, yeah, he'll be along later on. I just wanted to post this to put some fear in y'all, give you some taste of dispair and all that. Nah, but seriously, this Hound's bark is worse than his bite....well, not really, I just need to say that to keep the team from deserting.
Edit: Sorry if it's not very well-polished. I read through it now and realized it's very rough, but, meh, I just got home from my first day at work and I'm exhausted (how can people do this - work? - every day of their life?), so I just kind of wrote it together improvising. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. Well, guess if you're gonna make enemies, you might as well go all the way.
And, since Lox is making references to my character's personal life... The reason the Dogs are pissed at her is for her murder (read: bloody torture and then murder) of one of their top operatives. It wasn't pretty, although it was quite deserved, and since she was his girlfriend, the common consensus is that she really betrayed them. She's been on the run ever since. So this is Bad News for her, especially if Dunkirk figures out who he's been traveling with! _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Okay, Feth and Irkan. So you know, since Cole sent you to find "the others", for now, Underscore has dropped out, which means you guys "can't find the German", so to speak. I don't want to kill him in case Underscore want to get back in the game later, but Adrian Eckhardt has gone missing in the jungle for now, so don't worry about him. Also, min-i don't seem to be around any longer, which means her character has also gone missing, until she reports in, so don't worry about her either.
That leaves Havoc around to find and join up with.
Also... Since we're a small group now, I'm thinking of "inventing" another few mercs (nameless goons that just boost our ranks to a somewhat more impressive adventurer group allowing us to SOMEWHAT defend ourselves from Chiens de Guerre...five people aren't very impressive against that fighting force, after all...) to have joined the group. Please let me know what you think about that. Also, if you want to, multiple characters are allowed, to further boost the group's strength, but, you don't have to. Me, I won't create more characters unless it's NPC's, or nameless goons.
If you want to create a new character, you can either do what I'll (possibly) do with the nameless goons, just let them pop up out of nowhere, and assume they've been with the group the whole time but just kept in the background, or you can make them meet with the group in the jungle, for example a survivalist living in the jungle who they meet with, who get hooked to their mission eager to see La Canela, and decides to tag along, or something like that.
Again, just ideas, nothing decided yet, so let me know what you think. Also, again, I'm not asking you to make multiple characters. That's just if you want to - since we certainly could use the reinforcements. This brought on, because of Underscore's dropout and min-i's absence. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Once I rejoin, I'll add in a couple of goons. Should be easy enough to play.
(just so long as I NEVER again end up playing four player characters and three to five NPCs. That's hell.) _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

I'll add a(singular) or possibly a couple, goons. One man with a crossbow, even armed to the teeth with bolts isn't great in a stand up fight environment. _________________

Alright, boys and gals. I'm trying to kick it back alive here, since we've been slow. Let me go through what is going on point by point.
First of all. Jonathan and Cain, I sent to recon the enemy advancements, because that'll keep you guys busy for a while. Feel free to grab any goons you need or want to go with you, that's up to you.
Second, Mornara, I'm having your character gone, so you can do what you want - if you want to show up at the mission and help out, then feel free to do that. If you want to do something else (*hint, hint*), then do that, and if you want to let Cain and Jonathan find you, and help them out in the scouting, do that.
Third, Havoc and min-i, you're at the mission now, helping out with the preparations. The hospital is yours, min-i, but if you want to join the battle, then you can just run outside to drag away a corpse, then decide to join the fighting instead - same goes for Sidney; whatever you want to help out with, Havoc, do that - same thing there.
I think that about covers that.
Now, some minor things to take note of;
- I suggest everybody makes a post describing how they clear the river and join up on the beach, before they carry out their respective jobs - it will also give you a chance to show how badass a swimmer you are, or how much trouble you had clearing the river, whatever you feel like.
- I'll also let Cole assume the role as de-facto leader, meh, because quite frankly, its easier that way, and somebody is going to have to take that role to pull them through the battle. Oh, yeah... He won't abuse his power, though - if you don't agree with orders he gives you (I won't give much more orders), just kick him in the groin or something, and walk away.
- Also, whatever you want to see when you do the reconing, Irkan and Feth, its your call. The only thing I say, is the enemy was about fifty or so when they attacked on the beach, and we didn't kill that many of them. They also have at least one helicopter in the air, but that's nothing you'll be troubled by, rather we in that case.
- And also, as you've now noted, I've begun to hint at there being at least a score, twenty or so, mercs in our ranks, but no specific numbers. It ought to do the trick. That also means, of course, if any newcomers want to join up, there's no problems in doing that.
- Also, for you scouts; I'm going to play it like this with you. When we work the radio, I will just contact you, or vice versa, then you can report in, and improvise any of Cole's responses to your reports. I'm not stingy, so don't worry about using him out-of-character-like, just make it a good read.
So, this is my attempt to revive this RP again since we've all been a bit slow on it lately.
And remember, I want it to be a free RP - if you feel like going out and scout the jungle, or take up the battle with enemies on your own, do that. Just don't run into their ranks guns spraying. But within reasonable limits, you're free to do what you want - you don't have to stay at the mission.
Bah, 'nuff rants from me for now. Now get your posts going!
Edit; almost forgot. Here's a map of an old mission. Our mission isn't exactly like it - but close 'nuff. Just to give you some idea. You may improvise the layout as the battle there proceeds, this is just to give you an idea: Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum! |
