Okay, this is just to get it going. Everyone start posting characters and stuff. I'm gonna limit everyone to starting with only one weapon or magic. You can always get more stuff as the thread progresses!
I'll make an opening post tomorrow most likely! _________________ "The carping and bickering of political factions in the nation's capitol reminds me of two pelicans quarreling over a dead fish." -William Tecumseh Sherman |

Wooh, first character post. Okay, so I'm limiting his "gear" to his sword for now - wasn't sure whether you meant just one weapon, or just one weapon and no other gear, Havoc, but I assume you did.
In the words of Havoc: Anyway...
Andrea Castelli
Andrea was born the son of a lower nobleman and Condottieri (mercenary family) in Milan. As a young boy, he was sent by his father to study under the family's good friend, swordsmaster Achille Marozzo of the Dardi Fencing School in the city of Modena. This was to learn how to fight, so that he would be able to take over his father's mantle as head of a notorious mercenary band, the Wolves of Milan, as they were called.
Marozzo became his mentor, and Andrea trained with him for more than ten years, becoming a skilled duelist and fencer. With time he made a name for himself in Modena, much due to his apprenticeship under Marozzo, and later, as a duelist. Instead of returning to his family in Milan and take his place by his father's side when his apprenticeship was over, Andrea left Modena and went to Florence. There, at the age of twenty, he joined the Sforza family guard, in which he is now a captain, with a deadly charm and an even more deadly sword. He favors the schiavona in combat, despite his master's preference for the rapier.
Andrea Castelli is young, beautiful and charming man with light-brown hair, usually tied in a short pony-tail in his neck - but his eyes, gray as steel, can be cold and unforgiving, and though a gentleman, Andrea holds the terrible determination of a warrior, and will let nothing get in the way of his beliefs. At some times, he lets this persona of his through to his appearance and wears beard stubble, but is usually clean shaven.
Weapon: Schiavona _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Michael Defirenze
Michael was trained from birth to be the Commander of the Grey Knight Garrison in Florence. Not knowing who his parents were, he was always told that he could "find his salvation through service."
The other men in his garrison are away on important missions for the Pope Paul III, He was only able to keep one man, his right hand man
Clement Defirenze
Who is a similar fated man with a similar past.
Michael's Weapon: Two-handed Sword
Clement's Weapon: Schiavona _________________

Brother Anton Ricci
Having been born out of an illegitimate marriage, this monk was left as a baby at the steps of a monastery outside of Luca. There, the monks taught him how to read and right, as well as how to protect the monastery in times of turmoil. He is very limited in magic, only knowing how to do simple tasks, such as lighting a small fire, or creating enough water to fill a jug. He is physically strained by these activities, but makes up for his magic in martial arts. He is known to carry his prayer book above his heart, as a symbol of his allegiance to god.
He is not very sour about his past, as his connections to his parents were severed through his years as a monk. When asked about his parents, he simply replies "My father is God, and my mother is the Blessed Virgin Mary." He is generally quiet, and respectful to all.
Age: 27
Weapon: Bladed Paladin, Unarmed Combat
Magic: basically none
Allegiance: The Church
Equipment:
Water bag thing... i can't remember the word
Rope
Compass
Map

I'll post my character over my weekend, I am too swamped right now. _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Alessandro Serafino Borgia
Lean, quick as a cat and cold as ice, Alessandro is a quickly-rising newcomer on the scene of Italian politics. The child of poorer Borgia relatives, Alessandro despised the genteel shabbiness of his parents and three sisters, and attached himself to Cesare Borgia's following when he was thirteen. Cruel, inventive and sadistic, he became infamous for his tortures and assassinations, enjoying finding new ways to kill people, whether enemies or people who were simply of no use to him.
A term of employment by the Doge brought him some fame and fortune, and his knack for bedding wealthy women and convincing them to take him into their favor has ensured his continued comfort of living. He grew bored in the Doge's service however, and took up service to the Pope, where he sits now, deep in the councils of the most powerful men on earth. He has ties to the Spanish as well, his mother Calandra being of Spanish blood, and detests the French completely.
It is said even Cesare fears the thoughtful malice in Alessandro, and the dark-as-sin eyes are ever watching for a new opportunity to advance, amass more wealth, and learn new intrigues to manipulate others. _________________ To run from misery’s thrall to where only the knife-edged thrill stands before the endless fall…

Nah, don't want to stress you. Ok, maybe a little then. Anyways, I know we're all looking forward to this, even though the forum is in an RP-depression right now. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

I know, I know... Last day of work for me this summer is Friday. And it is on my to-do list. I have a little bit of an opening post all-ready, but it needs more. Just be patient, and it will come. If there is no post Friday, I give whoever the heck wants to start it up, to go ahead and make a post. _________________ "The carping and bickering of political factions in the nation's capitol reminds me of two pelicans quarreling over a dead fish." -William Tecumseh Sherman |

Any chance that I can join? I've got experience and I think I understand how to make a character. _________________ "Whether you like it or not oblivion, you shall have to try and catch me next time!"

O' course you can join. Everybody can join. Just make up a character, crack a beer, sit back, and wait for Havoc to write the intro.
(Nag nag nag)
(Edit: Oh, yes, I'm the fastest replier in the Fifthwind forums. Wohoo.)
(Edit 2: There's aNOther thread about 1542 in the World Creation forum, where there's a lot of neat weaponry from the proper time period if you want to check it out.) _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

So, I'm thinking of joining the rogues guild with this character.
Daniel 'Shadow' Fernicci
Daniel as a young boy was made an orphan by the mobs in Italy at the age of three. Hardly able to hold his own, he was taken in by one the thieves guild's higher members. Doing work whenever he could to pay off his foster father, eventually the man started to ask Daniel to do more dangerous tasks. It started with reconnaissance missions with some of his friends in the guild, but after much training and experience with others, he became a valued member of the organization.
As he grew into his twenties, Daniel began to work with many other new members of the guild and started to learn how to hone his inner talents and emotions. This was an important concept for Daniel because at the time, he was being ordered to go try and be the conciliator between the Theives Guild and any opposing side that was in or near Italy. His job was an exhausting one to say the least, and it put him into many dangerous situations that needed something to defend himself.
That was when he got his training in the art of magic. It was not needed for him to be trained a lot, just enough to protect himself in a time of need. It took him two and a half years just to start to get the hang of magic, but now five years after learning the spell, it has become an easy spell to conjure up almost instantly. During his life, Daniel has used the spell many times when he traveled to negotiate with foreign mobs because most of the men have ill will towards his clan.
Age: 28
Weapons: How do I do this?
Magic: Same as above.
Allegiance: Rogues Guild
How do I make a spell/weapon anyways? _________________ "Whether you like it or not oblivion, you shall have to try and catch me next time!"

Well, I'm going to give my guess at this, and if it doesn't fit with Havoc's opinion, then he can say so.
First of all, I posted a list of weapons with pictures and all in the "world creation" forum's 1542 thread, so that's where you should look for weapons. Just one for now, or whatever, I gess.
As for magic, since there's no real-life existing magic to match with, well, just think out your own, and name it. Not an almighty magic, but a badassone is allowed, I guess. Shouldn't be very exhausting.
Well, I've got a film to catch. Toodles. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Yes, making up magic as you go along is more or less name of the game here. AS FOR THE THREAD, I am waiting on one or two other people. We'll start this week though. _________________ "The carping and bickering of political factions in the nation's capitol reminds me of two pelicans quarreling over a dead fish." -William Tecumseh Sherman |

I hope you weren't waiting for me... ^^; sorry. Ok, here's what I have for my character so far. I'm a little confused as to the Borgia's role but I hope to sort that out when I'm more awake and at a later date. I know she rather conflicts with the views and roles of women but I felt the need to even out the genders a little.
Name: Annette Fuoco Borgia
Age: 21
Weapon: Recurve Bow
Magic: Small fire magics such as lighting her arrows on fire, lighting torches, and occasionally launching fireballs from her hand at unsuspecting victims.
Allegiance: Borgia Family
Personality: Annette is self-confident and courageous. Due to the freedom she experienced as a child she quickly learned to be independent and constantly pushed the boundaries of her expected role. She is very enthusiastic at times but can also be very stubborn. She does what she wants and has the money to do so. Along with her more positive traits she is also impatient and impulsive, often charging ahead without thinking about the consequences of her actions.
History:
Annette was born in a side-branch of the Borgia family but her parents were fairly wealthy nobles. As an only child she was spoiled and pretty much allowed to roam free. Her mother was fairly old when she gave birth to Annette and her parents failed at conceiving another child. As a result her father, who longed for a son, substitued Annette, much to her pleasure. She was taught from an early age how to shoot a bow and how to hunt so that she could accompany her father. She often wore pants at her leisure and even took to wearing them under her dressess until her mother found out. The family struggled to keep this fact a secret, fearful of what the rest of the family would think.
As Annette grew older her mother passed away from a heart-attack and her father retired, leaving her in charge of the estate. Despite her fathers constant pressuring to get married Annette find she enjoys being the lady of the estate and frowns upon the thought of sharing the power she has with another. Lately her skills as an archer and mage have gained her the respect of the estate as well as from other members of her family who find her gifts beneficial to the family name, despite her unlady-like habits. _________________ "No harm ever came from reading a book." -Evelien from The Mummy |

No, Lunarcat. Just haven't had the chance to start the thread. And given how school is gettin' to me a little, I'm opening this up: It was mostly developed by the FW community, so whoever wants to start it may. _________________ "The carping and bickering of political factions in the nation's capitol reminds me of two pelicans quarreling over a dead fish." -William Tecumseh Sherman |

Name: Juan Fernigli
Age: 30
Magic: Shadow (concealment, limited teleportation through shadows, shadow based illusions.)
Weapon: Rapier.
(He'll definitely be getting more stuff.)
Faction: Thieves Guild (Assassin.)
Juan was given to one of the less savory parts of the Thieves Guild to pay off his parents debts and was trained in the ways of the thieves to pay for his continued survival. As such, he's slightly above average in ability among assassins and will generally outfight both nobles and soldiers with a sword, though knives are his true love. He's known for fighting dirty.
The last few years, he's been touring the continent, leaving a slightly bloody trail and getting acquainted with some new weapons. He's just returned to the city.
Appearance: Brown eyes, caramel skin, dark hair, yada yada yada. A little above average height, wiry. _________________ The Knights of the Pink Slippers are now recruiting!

Should we try and get this one running, so we can get the RP's back on track? Maybe Havoc and I can work something out - if he doesn't have the time I might be able to start it up.. _________________ "Women don't want to marry adventurers. That means I'll never marry." Corto Maltese |

Yeah. I'm hoping to have time soon to do so. Been tired and have had some things come up. But yes, we need to try and breathe some life back into this old place. _________________ "The carping and bickering of political factions in the nation's capitol reminds me of two pelicans quarreling over a dead fish." -William Tecumseh Sherman |
