Set in Fantasy times, a group of mercenaries is hired by the Federation to eradicate various orcs, goblins and trolls of sorts from a large wooded forest. There are various elven archer teams in the area that have gone missing, and may aid if found.

Part of a larger series of possible Short Adventures, set in a time when the Federation battles the Empire for supremacy over a large expanse of land, known as the Eligorian High Lands. The forest is on the very eastern part, near a large set of mountains. These forests are called the Yoorwood Forests, one of the many homes to the wood elves.

Any characters are allowed from within the fantasy realm. Dwarf, human, elf, hafling are preffered, but spliced organisms of sorts (half animals half dwarf/human/elf/hafling are allowed. Medium-high level arcane magic preffered and high level or weapon proficiency, as there are a lot of enemies involved. This forest is crawling with them. Dnd level approx 12.

If there is interest, this will start. Better for people living in the states, cause thats where I am, and the time zones match up a lot nicer.

Remember the whole short-adventure concept. Limit it to this one grove of trees and find a way to conclude the adventure. Post how many rounds (master posts) you expect the adventure to last. Very Happy

I'll probably participate in this. Give me a day or two to post about my character, though. Also, when does it start and end? I'm just curious. And, is this is a series of different threads, right? So, after this one is done, is there going to be a different thread with the same setting but a different goal? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just a little curious. I might start to get busy in the summer, so I'm not sure I'd be able to participate in all of them. So, would it be okay to be in a few of them, but not all of them?

Theoretically, depending on activity, I expect this to take anywhere from 20-30 posts from me, which translates into maybe a week around. I'll post around twice per day, except on thursdays.

Don't worry FW, what I have planned, is so that the events in the forest may alter a different thread containing a similar world setting, but the immediate setting can vary from a titanic cataclismic clash of force in the deserts, or a series of skirmishes in the highlands. However, this thread will occur after this one, and titled the Great Crusade II: Short Adventure, but only if this one takes off. It will alter the different threads, if for example, the forest falls, and the Empire spreads into the highlands closer to the human fortress. Then, instead of a thread about attacking closer to the Empire, you will be defending the Alliance.

Yes, you will be able to skip in and out of the battles at will. They are seperate and different from each other in immediate story line, but inevitably linked together by the fact that they occur on the same planet

Sorry it took so long. I wanted it really detailed, so I probably have a bunch of unecessary stuff. EDITED!

Name: Roku Erthrige
Race: Human-Elf
Class: Swordsman
Weapon: One-handed sword
Armor: Tough Leather
Spells: Ensnare (large vines spring from the ground constricting anyone near them, sometimes to death), Song of the Trees (takes the appearance of a tree to hide from enemies), Sleeping Mist (produces a mist that causes nearby enemies to fall asleep for a short period of time), Quick Stalk (allows quicker and more silent movement for a short period of time), Minor Heal (self-explanatory), Thorn Attack (shoots small, poisoned thorns out of his palm at enemies)
Abilities: Knowledge of herbs helps him to create potions and poisons from plants found in nature; Can speak with some animals; Has a very good sense of hearing, smell, and sight
Appearance: Small and thin with long brown hair that is tied in a ponytail. Bright green eyes and light skin.
Personality: Kind and very interested in the world around him. He's always looking for new types of plants, but also looks out for any monsters when they might be nearby. He is very curious, but usually takes precautions before doing anything that might be dangerous. Very nice and easy to get along with.
Past: Lived in the forest with his human father and elf mother. His mother was an herbalist who had her own garden and a large variety of plants. She taught him his knowledge of herbs, as well as a minor healing spell. His father was a mercenary, using the money to support the family and the garden. His mother became ill when experimenting with a new plant, and his father continued to try to earn money through acting as a mercenary. One day he never came back, and Roku took it upon himself to earn money and find a cure for his mother.

Let me know if I have to change anything. I don't play DnD, so I don't really know what's too strong. So, how many people should we have for this?

This is fine. Just an FYI, the enemies are numerous, so always rememeber, that there are more of them, than you.

I happen to like those skills. And my personal favorite choice for a class in almost anything is a warrior. I'll do an occasional thief, but I rarely do any ranged people. I might do a ranged character once in a blue moon, but you probably won't see me with one for quite a while. I'll probably make a completely different character for the next one, but for right now I'll stick with this one.

Thats kewl too. I prefer to vary my characters greatly. But, hey, whatever you like to do! that is what make us all special.

Yeah, I usually make my characters pretty different, but I kind of wanted to expand on him a little bit more. It'll probably be the last time I'm using someone so similar. I hope I can find a few people who want to do this.

Leonidan Dreamflower
Elven Ranger
5'7" 145lbs
125 years old (young)
Long silver hair, tied back into a ponytail, with some hair free-flowinf in the front
Weapons: Enchanted Greatbow that can transform into a greatsword at will and very quickly. 2 long and wicked magical daggers. Leo wears a magical suit of tree, bark and vine armor that responds his enviroment. Since Leo uses a lot of arrows, he has magic ones. effects include Fire, Multiplication and Healing.
Fighting style: Leo uses his bow mostly and will sometimes engage in combat with odds in his favor. He has special training against "Abominations of nature".
Abilities: Variety of healing and nature-orientated spells, as well as a spiritual link to his animal companions.
Animal companions : Nikki, a Large White tiger. Emmon, a Snowy owl.

I thought of this character alot in Spanish class. I wonder why spanish class makes me creative? Maybe because the teacher is so damn boring.

Sorry, I thought my dad said my grandparents are coming in July, but it turns out that he said June. They're coming Friday, and I'm probably going to spend a lot of time with them (they live far away, so I don't get to see them often). I can still try to post, but it won't be as often as I did in Fifthwind's Short Adventure.

Raizan Nimblefingers
Age: 36
Height: Short, okay? Like, 3'3"
Halfling Rogue

Middle-aged halfling that's in this crusade not only for the money, but to have a good time (he believes that killing off evil creatures is a "good time"). Black hair, cut short. Cloaked in browns and greens of the forest, for an easier time to hide.

Weapons: Repeating crossbow and two enchanted daggers. Alchemists' fire (liquid in a vial that, when exposed to air, combusts), caltrops, thunderstones.
Fighting Style: Since this takes place in a forest, Raizan will probably try to spend a lot of time in the cover of trees, up in the branches, of course. Shooting at enemies rapidly with his repeating crossbow is a common tactic. If necessary or if he feels like it, or just if there's an opportunity, Raizan will hop down and start attacking with his daggers, trying to team up on an enemy with an ally to be able to hit vital areas easier while the enemy is distracted. If in a bind, he'll back off and use a few of his alchemical items to weaken the enemies, or the caltrops to slow them down for escape. Just in case none of these tactics work, he also has a few potions that can turn him invisible.
Abilities: Nothing special. Just good and stealth and attacked enemies when they're least prepared. A pretty good scout, if the party needs one.

Hey, my scheldule should be clearing up now. My grandparents went back home, and school's almost over. I'll go check with some of my friends to see if they'd be interested in this. Also, I've had a few good ideas for characters, so I was wondering if it would be okay to change it. Sorry bout my absence.

Your absence as i understand is was family related, so you really have nothing to be sorry about. Family first, then friends, then the forum... unless you believe in god, then hes first.

Thats also part of the reason why this hasn't taken off much on my part either. Im graduating in a few days, but they still gave us a major project... so yeah
