I used to read it religiously, but now I don't, thank god. I read books now. Laughing I still read one or two, waiting for them to be updated and stuff, but I don't brouse or anything like that...

Anyways, in full-procastination mode, I went back to fanfic net to look around, for the first time in about a year. Shocked Yaoi! (Yes, that was a pun...) Is it just me or is ffnet shit? I mean, it wasn't amazing before, but the page I have up has 6 Mary Sues/Chat Speak/Mispellings in Titles fics--out of 21. Shocked Shocked Shocked

Shocked

Seriously, anyone know what happened? Is writing fanfic suddenly 'oh so cool' and all my cheerleading 'friends' are trying their hand at writing?!?! Has everyone's spell checker broken?! I'm shocked.

Any views?

Personally, i've never been to the sight, and from your glamorous report, i don't think i want too, but i think fan fic is for the people who are to lazy to create their own world, and do not want to try and develop new things.

I admit there are some fan fics that work out pretty well. For example, Sandragon's (SP) "Class of 2006" has all new characters and exists on a different island than the rest of everything else going on.

Fifteen Hours, another fan fic of WH40K, is also of completely original storyline. Then again, WH40K did start as a book series...

Fan fic done well is actually not that bad. Fan fic like the endless adventures of ash ketchup (I could never remember his name...) get kinda stupid, especially when there are only so many days in a year, and he has not grown any taller, nor has he ever shaved, bathed, or had his hair cut. Mysteries of life... (Twilight zone music.)

I really liked the Family Fics for Harry Potter, just because it was so original.

It's Ash Ketchum, by sisters watching it right now. Shocked

Yeah, the reason I never wrote ff's are just because my favorite thing is to make characters, and plot lines.

I was there for a while, mostly reading Hellsing fics. Most of the finished ones I read were actually quite decent.
Of course, there were also a lot that seemed really horrible just at a glance, and in most of the other categories I checked, well, it wasn't worth my time.

I can't write fan-fics simply because I have to put myself into someone elses world, and that don't work.

Warhammer, especially 40k are made so that fan-fics are easier to write, and you can have much greater freedom than in most other fan-fics.

I went through a Harry Potter fanfic phase about a year ago, but I always stayed away from ff.net unless something was specifically recommended to me. There was just too much junk to sift through.
