The young boy looked around, confused as rain fell hard onto his unprotected head. He ran yelling out for his mother. He tripped in the sand, and looked out to the ocean. The waves thundered hard against the shore. Looking out onto the water, he saw a boat struggling with the wind. It wrestled with the current, but the winds aided the water in pushing the boat over. He could hear the wind carry their cries of terror over the water.
He cried out for his mom again, looking in desperation. He felt someone put a hand on his shoulder. He looked over his shoulder, and saw a man that he didn’t know. The man tried to grab him, but the boy lashed out.
“I have to find Mommy!” He shouted against the wind.
“I’m sorry, but we have to get you inside.” The man’s voice dominated the roars from the wind. He picked up the boy, and ran through the village to his home. The boy looked around, seeing the destruction that the storm had left. Thunder cracked as lightning hit a tree that they ran past. Tears rolled down the boy’s cheek, wondering where his mother was.
